The YDA Youth Council is a great way to get involved in your community and obtain valuable community service hours. Volunteer opportunities include visiting senior citizens at Atria, raising food & supplies for the pets at Little Shelter Animal Rescue, cleaning up at local parks, and any other project you and the group would like to be involved in. Youth Council gives the students the power to make decisions in how they would like to give back to the community. (Open to Elwood and Harborfields students).
Got game? Think you're the next Lebron James? Learn good sportsmanship, team building, and bring your skills to our intramural pick-up games. Games are fun, competitive, and great for fine tuning your game. (Open to Harborfields, Northport/E. Northport, and John Glenn High School students).
YDA Open Classroom is a place where students can come to do homework, study, meet new people, discuss important topics with friends or just hang out. YDA Open Classroom is held in Room 138.
Everyone has something to say! Join us for lunch and share some of your thoughts and feelings. The group leader will have interesting topics to add to the conversations. It's like being on your own cable news show.
Step Team is a highly skilled group that learns and performs intricate step and dance routines. The Step Team has recently performed at the Elwood Talent Show, Suffolk Community College's Black History Month Celebration, and Hofstra University's Haitian Student Association Celebration/Fashion Show. Look out and listen for announcements for tryouts in the Fall and Spring. (Open to John Glenn High School Students). The team meets in the Cafeteria.
Join YDA every week for some friendly flag football! Players meet every Wednesday at John Walsh park-next to the East Northport Library. Boys and girls are welcome to play-no tackling & no permanent teams. In case of inclement weather, participants are welcome to come to YDA and play Madden and watch football movies!
Looking for something different to do on Friday afternoon? Come over and have some fun. Watch a movie. Play Xbox 360, foosball, and air hockey. Listen to a favorite CD and have a snack. Great way to meet new friends from EMS or OMS!
The YDA After School Program is a two hour program where students do homework for the first hour of the program, and during the second hour enjoy recreation and other activities designed to improve their social skills. You Must Have A Permission Slip to Attend. YDA After-School meets in Room 121.
Youth come together to plan and carry out community service projects based on their interests. Some examples are: Holiday Adopt a Family, Food Drives, Winter Coat Drives, etc.
Northport High School students are paired up with senior citizens residing at the Atria Assisted Living facility in East Northport. The student pairs meet with their senior citizen twice a month, and both generations have the opportunity to learn about each other and share life experiences. This program is run jointly with Northport High School staff and is held every other Tuesday.
A recreational program designed for youth to "drop- in" at the YDA, and spend time with their friends in a safe place on Friday nights. Youth watch movies, play video games, listen to music, and just hang out. Open to all high school aged youth in the Northport/East Northport School District.

Join YDA every week for some kickball fun! Kickball players will meet Thursday at YDA. This is a coed program. We will play games and learn basic kickball skills. In case of inclement weather, participants are welcome to come to YDA and play Xbox games.
A recreational program designed to give youth a safe space to hang out with their friends, watch movies, play video games, play basketball, and just be themselves. Open to all middle school aged youth in the Northport/East Northport School District.
This program operates in direct conjunction with Northport Middle School, and takes place in Room H61 twice a week. The program is split into two parts. The first hour offers NMS students the opportunity to do their homework in a quiet and supportive environment with staff available to help answer any questions that may arise. During the second part, YDA staff provides a socialization component to the program and provides activities and exercises in order to help the students develop their skills. As an extra bonus YDA also provide snacks, and recreational activities.
